How service mast and meter socket repair works.

When the service mast is damaged

Falling trees, storms, ice, vehicle impact, or contractor damage. The service mast holds the weatherhead and the service drop attachment. When it bends, breaks, or pulls loose, the service drop is no longer safely supported. We coordinate with the utility to disconnect, replace the mast, and reconnect.

Meter socket replacement

Older meter sockets corrode, lose grip on the meter blades, or develop hot spots from loose lugs. Replacement requires utility disconnect, socket swap (often combined with a service upgrade), and inspection before utility reconnect.

Weatherhead and service entrance conductor

The weatherhead is the bell-shaped fitting at the top of the mast where the service drop conductors enter. Sun-degraded gaskets and squirrel chewing on conductors are the most common failures. We replace the weatherhead and any damaged service entrance conductor during the repair.

Utility coordination

Service entrance repair is utility-coordinated work. We schedule the disconnect with Austin Energy, PEC, SDG&E, or the local utility, complete the repair during the cut window, and pass inspection before the utility reconnects.
