Keil Electric service

TV mounting and installation, cords hidden in the wall.

A flush-mounted TV with the power and cables run inside the wall: no cords, no visible box, no surface raceway. We add the recessed outlet behind the screen, which is the part a handyman legally cannot.

ALL THREE SHOPS COVER THIS
Licensed electrician on every job. Veteran-owned, family-run.
5-year, 10-year & lifetime warranty on the install. Parts and labor. Stays with the house.
After-hours emergency dispatch. A real person on the line, not a robot.
Direct answer

Keil Electric mounts and installs TVs across San Diego County and the Austin metro: flush wall mounts, over-fireplace, and outdoor-rated, with the power and cabling concealed inside the wall. Because we are licensed electricians, we install a recessed outlet behind the TV and fish the wiring in-wall to code, so there is no visible cord or surface channel. Written quote first; most single-TV jobs are same-day.

02 - COST & TIMELINE

What this work usually runs.

How long Often same day From the day we start until the work is complete.
Warranty 5/10-yr + life Written warranty 5/10-year + lifetime depending on the install. Parts and labor. Transfers with the home.
03 - HOW THIS WORKS

How tv mounting & installation works.

In-wall power

A recessed receptacle behind the screen so the plug disappears. Electrician-only work.

Cable concealment

HDMI, ethernet, and power fished inside the wall, not stuck to it with a surface raceway.

Over-fireplace & outdoor

Heat-aware placement and pull-down or tilt mounts over a fireplace; weather-rated mounts on a GFCI-protected circuit outdoors.

Soundbar & TV audio

We hang the soundbar; for full multiroom sound see our Whole-Home Audio service.

What it costs

A standard single-TV mount with in-wall concealment is a fixed, few-hundred-dollar job and usually same-day. Over-fireplace, outdoor, or jobs that need a new circuit run more. The mount and the TV barely move the price; the in-wall power and cable run is the work. Fixed written number up front; trip charge applies.

04 - PROCESS

Our process

01

Walk & discovery

We look at what you have, what you want it to do, and what is already in the walls.

02

Network & infrastructure plan

Everything modern runs on the network, so we scope that first.

03

Written scope & quote

A fixed number, in writing, before any work.

04

Permits when the district requires them

Many low-voltage jobs do not need one; circuit or panel work sometimes does.

05

Install day

One licensed crew handles the power and the low-voltage together.

06

Commissioning & walkthrough

We set it up, test it, and show you how to run it before we leave.

05 - BRANDS WE INSTALL

Equipment we trust.

We install equipment we'd put in our own homes. If you have a preferred brand, tell us, we'll work with it.

  Permits

Permits and inspections

No permit required for this work in most jurisdictions. We confirm with the local building department before starting.

  Warranty

What's covered

Written warranty: 5-year on outlets, fixtures, and EV chargers; 10-year on wire and breakers; lifetime on panelboxes and surge protection. Parts and labor. Transfers with the home.

  Safety

Safety notes

The two ways TV installs go wrong: a mount lag-bolted into drywall instead of a stud, and an ungrounded extension cord fished through the wall as a shortcut, which is a code violation and a fire risk. We anchor to structure and run a proper receptacle.

Real work from our San Diego and Austin shops. Same standards, same warranty, every job.

07 - WHO TO HIRE

Why hiring a licensed electrician matters.

For tv mounting & installation, here's the honest comparison. We'd tell you the same thing if we weren't trying to win the job.

Keil Electric

A licensed electrician

Licensed electrician walks every job. Veteran-owned, family-run.
Permits pulled and inspections coordinated when required by the AHJ
5/10-year + lifetime warranty in writing. Parts and labor. Transfers with the home.
Fully insured + workers' comp on every crew
The price you sign is the price you pay
A handyman

Unlicensed for electrical

No state electrical license. Can do simple swaps but not panel work, rewires, or service upgrades.
No permits. Work won't pass inspection if the city audits it later.
No structured warranty. "Call me if something breaks" isn't enforceable.
If something they did causes a fire, your homeowner's insurance can deny the claim.
Cash discount may show up on the invoice.
DIY

Doing it yourself

Cheap, but only if everything goes right. Most electrical work involves load calc, code, and permitting.
A failed inspection means redoing the work. Selling the home later, the buyer's inspector flags it.
No warranty if something fails. Replacement is on you.
Live wiring is a real safety hazard. Most fatal home electrical accidents are DIY.
If you know what you're doing, fine. If you don't, call us first.
08 - BEFORE YOU CALL

How to know when it is time, and what to expect.

When to bring us in for TV mounting

Most TV mounting calls come down to one thing: you want the TV on the wall and the cords gone. That is easiest before the drywall closes on a renovation, but we retrofit finished walls every day. The whole point of hiring an electrician is that we can fish power and cable inside an existing wall and add the outlet behind the screen. Call when you have the TV, or know the size, and we handle the mount, the concealment, and the recessed outlet in one visit.

What we look at on the first visit

A look at the wall itself, stud framing, masonry, or over a fireplace, where the recessed outlet will land, and the clean path to fish HDMI, power, and ethernet inside the wall. For a fireplace mount we check heat and viewing height; for an outdoor TV we check for a GFCI circuit or plan to add one. The estimate is fixed for the scope as walked; if we open the wall and find something genuinely new, you hear about it before we proceed.

Common questions about tv mounting & installation

Can you hide the cords completely, with no visible cable?

Yes, that is the licensed-electrician version. We install a recessed outlet behind the TV and fish the cables in-wall, so nothing shows. Handymen use a stick-on raceway because they cannot add the outlet.

Can you mount a TV over my fireplace?

Usually yes; we account for heat and viewing angle, and use a pull-down or tilt mount where the height calls for it. We will flag it on the walk if yours is not a good candidate.

Is it safe to run an extension cord inside the wall to hide it?

No, it is a code violation and a fire hazard. We install a proper in-wall-rated receptacle instead. That is the difference between us and a handyman.

Do you mount outdoor TVs on the patio?

Yes, a weather-rated mount on a GFCI-protected circuit, which we will add if there is not one out there.

Do you take the old mount down and patch the wall?

We remove the old mount and make the hole ready for paint; full drywall finishing we will quote if you want it.

10 - REQUEST

Need tv mounting & installation?

Point at the wall. We will mount the TV, hide every cord inside it, and add the outlet behind it, same visit.

Request an estimate.

A licensed electrician walks the job, tells you what needs doing, and the price in writing.

Request received.

Thanks. We got your request and the local team will be in touch soon.
